Jared Klok: alt country tunes equal parts wit and wonder
Jared Klok joined me in the CKDU Studio for the final episode of Why Folk Why Not to chat about writing love letters to motorcycles, learning how to miss the prairies productively, and to explain what exactly a honkey/tinker is.
Jared’s debut solo album, honkey/tinker was released at the St. John’s festival Lawyna Vawnya in April.
Roger Stone: Guitarist, member of Cape Breton’s famed Brakin’ Tradition, and banjo player extraordinaire.
Roger stopped by the CKDU studios, banjo in tow, to chat with me about growing up in Cape Breton, discovering Earl Scruggs, and his philosophy of music teaching.
Roger plays often around Halifax so keep your ear to the ground for his banjo sounds.
Tom Terrell: bluegrass, jazz, roots, blues, gypsy, and all the places in-between.
Tom Terrell joined me in the studio on a grey Tuesday morning to reminisce about drumming in punk bands, talk about his genre bending bluegrass band The Modern Grass, and share some favourite songs from a impressive stack of vinyl.
Keep your eyes out for Modern Grass performances around town and if you haven’t checked out their latest release High on the Mountain yet your life is about to get a whole lot better.
